April 2014 Public Meeting

The April 2014 meeting agenda primarily focused on MACPAC’s June 2014 Report to the Congress. Analysts discussed how children’s health coverage will be affected if Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) funding ends in 2015 (as is the case under current law), and present draft recommendations. The Commission also reviewed draft June report chapters on long-term services and supports, Medicaid’s role in population health, and federal and state administrative capacity.

In addition, four meeting sessions addressed topics for future reports. They included:

  • implementation of Medicaid Health Home initiatives;
  • a report on MACPAC’s March roundtable on rate-setting in Medicaid managed care;
  • initial use of encounter data in Medicaid managed care settings, which serve a large and growing share of Medicaid enrollees; and
  • an overview of the CHIPRA bonus-payment program, which was intended to encourage enrollment of Medicaid- and CHIP-eligible children.
