Administrative Capacity Roundtable: Initial Themes

Following upon a chapter in its June 2014 report, in February 2015 MACPAC convened an expert roundtable, which included current and former state Medicaid directors and CMS leaders, representatives of other public purchasers, consultants and researchers, performance measurement experts, and representatives from organizations focused on administrative capacity development, to gain insight on Medicaid agencies’ administrative needs and identify opportunities and methods for developing capacity. The panel raised a number of issues ranging from staff training and retention, performance measurement, and the types of data needed to determine where investments should be made.
