This presentation examines how the costs of premiums and cost sharing could affect a family’s willingness to sign up for coverage, how these costs compare to CHIP, and how costs relate to other expenses that low-income families face.
Among other projections, the analysis estimates that average cost sharing for exchange coverage could be 7 to 15 times higher than CHIP at the income levels selected for the study, and out-of-pocket cost-sharing maximums for exchange coverage also exceed CHIP.
