MACPAC is committed to prioritizing health equity across all of its work. In MACPAC’s June 2022 report, the Commission addressed Medicaid approaches for promoting health equity and addressing racial disparities, which included improving state Medicaid administrative race and ethnicity data.
This presentation provided background for MACPAC’s work this report cycle on the collection and reporting of race and ethnicity data. It described the need for high-quality and standardized data, provided an overview of federal data collection standards, addressed how those standards are applied by state Medicaid programs, and reviewed MACPAC’s earlier assessment of the availability and quality of Medicaid race and ethnicity data.
