This presentation outlines the Commission’s current and upcoming work on behavioral health in Medicaid, highlighting four projects that examine access to behavioral health for children and adults as well as federal policies to support data sharing among behavioral health facilities.
The second part of the presentation summarizes findings from an analysis of the 2018 National Survey on Drug Use and Health, which MACPAC used to estimate the prevalence of mental illness among non-institutionalized adults age 18—64 and the rates at which they receive treatment, comparing the experience of adults enrolled in Medicaid to those with other sources of coverage. This analysis also looks at the prevalence of other chronic conditions among adults with mental illness and the degree to which they report involvement with the criminal justice system.
