Comparison of Separate CHIP and QHP Affordability and Benefits

If funding for the State Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) is exhausted, some of these children may be eligible for enrollment in exchange plans.  A key policy issue thus is the comparability of benefits and cost sharing between exchange plans and CHIP plans. The presentation reviews the latest research on CHIP and exchange plans’ affordability and covered benefits, cost sharing issues, and policies that could address disparities between the two forms of coverage.
