Congressional Request for Information on Data and Recommendations to Improve Care for Dually Eligible Beneficiaries

On November 23, 2022, Senators Bill Cassidy, Thomas Carper, John Cornyn, Robert Menendez, Tim Scott, and Mark Warner released a congressional request for information (RFI) on ways to improve coverage for people who are dually eligible for Medicare and Medicaid. The RFI seeks stakeholder input on a series of questions related to integrating care that are focused on three core principles: the diversity of the dually eligible population, the range of state capabilities in supporting coverage for the dually eligible, and the role of financial incentives on outcomes and efficiency.

In this session, staff summarized MACPAC’s prior work in this area and identified potential areas for comment. These included requiring state strategies to integrate care, state capacity to integrate care, and considerations for a unified program. Comments are due January 13, 2023.
