EXHIBIT 51. Service Categories Used to Adjust Medicaid Benefit Spending in the T-MSIS to Match CMS-64 Totals

MACPAC adjusts benefit spending in Transformed Medicaid Statistical Information System (T-MSIS) to match CMS-64 totals. The service categories in T-MSIS and CMS-64 used to calculate benefit spending in fiscal year 2021 are compared. T-MSIS and CMS-64 data sources are grouped into a set number of broad service categories, which include hospital, non-hospital acute care, drugs, managed care and premium assistance, long-term services and supports (LTSS) non-institutional, LTSS institutional, and Medicare.
