Health Care Access for Children in Foster Care: Study Findings

During this session staff presented findings from a study of health care access for children in foster care. Following staff’s presentation in February that provided background information on children in foster care and the federal requirements for the state agencies that serve them, staff presented themes from an analysis of policies, approaches, and experiences serving children in foster care in seven states and stakeholder interviews. Four themes emerged from the study: collaboration and coordination between child-serving systems, including data sharing, delivery of EPSDT benefits, behavioral health needs, and specialty managed care plans.
