MACPAC is examining the collection of primary language and limited English proficiency (LEP), sexual orientation and gender identity (SOGI), and disability data for the purposes of assessing and addressing health disparities. During the September meeting, MACPAC provided a framework to assess the collection of demographic data that can inform our programmatic understanding.
This presentation focused on primary language and LEP data collection. It reviewed the purpose of language information, how these data can be used to ensure language access and measure health disparities, and modes for collecting language information from Medicaid-covered individuals. It concluded with considerations for Medicaid language data collection and next steps.
