The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services has approved waivers to three states—Arkansas, Indiana, and New Hampshire—to adopt work and community engagement requirements. (Work requirements were also approved for Kentucky although the approval was vacated by a U.S. district court.) These requirements are currently in effect for some beneficiaries in Arkansas and are at varying stages of implementation in other states. This presentation looks at the mechanics of how states are operationalizing these requirements including processes to track compliance, conduct outreach to beneficiaries and other stakeholders, connect enrollees to supportive resources, and monitoring effects.
