MACPAC is statutorily required to report annually on Medicaid disproportionate share hospital (DSH) allotments in its March report to Congress. This presentation provided updated analyses of the data elements that MACPAC is statutorily required to report that include:
- changes in the number of uninsured individuals;
- amounts and sources of hospital uncompensated care; and,
- hospitals with high levels of uncompensated care that also provide access to essential community services.
This presentation also provided updates on the uninsured rate during the COVID-19 pandemic, DSH allotment changes during the public health emergency, and the treatment of third-party payments in Medicaid shortfall.
