Response to Senate Finance Committee Request for Information on Behavioral Health Priorities

In September 2021, Chairman Ron Wyden and Ranking Member Mike Crapo of the Senate Committee on Finance issued a letter to the behavioral health care community and other stakeholders seeking public input on policy approaches to enhance behavioral health care in the areas of:

  • strengthening the workforce
  • increasing integration, coordination, and access to care;
  • ensuring parity between behavioral and physical health care;
  • furthering the use of telehealth; and
  • improving access to behavioral care for children and young people.

In this session, staff reviewed a draft MACPAC response that draws on MACPAC’s prior work on behavioral health. The draft response highlights key findings from MACPAC’s research, notes the Commission’s recommendations where relevant, and ongoing MACPAC analyses.
