In June and July 2014, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) released two reports to Congress on the quality of medical care for adults and children in Medicaid and the State Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP). This MACPAC staff presentation provides background on the core quality measures that the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services have used to improve quality in Medicaid and CHIP, reviews the HHS reports’ findings, and suggests several potential areas of discussion for formal comments to Congress and HHS.
