This presentation reviews the Medicare-Medicaid Coordination Office’s (MMCO) fifth annual Report to Congress released in March, and contains suggestions for areas of potential MACPAC comment. The report highlights MMCO’s ongoing initiatives, which include the Financial Alignment Initiative, reducing avoidable hospitalizations among nursing facility residents, examination of coverage standards for benefits that overlap between Medicaid and Medicare, and standards for Medicare data sharing, payment, and quality measures. The report also includes legislative recommendations to improve coordination and alignment between Medicaid and Medicare for dually eligible enrollees.
