MACPAC contracted with Mathematica to compile an inventory of state Medicaid initiatives to improve pregnant women’s access to services and the quality of care they receive. Mathematica examined state efforts in eligibility and enrollment, beneficiary and provider education and outreach, covered benefits, models of care, payment, managed care contracting, performance measurement, and other. This presentation describes the preliminary results of the inventory as context for the subsequent discussion on state Medicaid initiatives to improve maternal health, featuring Kate Massey, senior deputy director at the Michigan Medical Services Administration; Jennifer Langer Jacobs, assistant commissioner of the New Jersey Division of Medical Assistance and Health Services; and Shannon Dowler, the chief medical officer at North Carolina Medicaid.*
