The Commission has been exploring federal policy approaches to better target Medicaid disproportionate share hospital (DSH) payments to the states and hospitals that both serve a disproportionate share of Medicaid and low-income patients, and have high levels of uncompensated care. This presentation walks through the potential effects of several different scenarios that would raise the current federal minimum standards on which hospitals are eligible to receive DSH payments.
