To help the Commission examine DSH payment policy, MACPAC convened a roundtable of states, providers, and other stakeholders involved in DSH policy in September 2017, to discuss how DSH funding should be structured in the future. This slide presentation provides an overview of the roundtable participants’ discussion, which touched on the multiple roles of DSH funding and how these roles relate to other sources of funding that also address similar goals. In addition, participants at the roundtable discussed potential improvements to current law, including ways to improve the targeting of DSH payments to providers and the distribution of DSH allotments among states.
