Update on Medicaid’s Response to COVID-19

This presentation provides an update to material shared at the Commission’s April public meeting on Medicaid’s response to COVID-19.  The presentation provides a recap of MACPAC’s work related to the pandemic, including recent letters sent by the Commission to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, a catalog of state Medicaid telehealth policy changes in response to the pandemic, and a new section on the MACPAC website. The presentation also provides anecdotes from states on expanded use of telehealth and approaches to maintaining access to substance use disorder treatment services.  The presentation also describes CMS actions pertaining to nursing facilities, and shares recent data on racial and ethnic disparities with respect to COVID-19.
